Not sure who needs to hear this (probably nobody), but Easter is this Sunday.
Easter is hands-down my least favorite holiday, especially this year while still recovering from chaperoning a middle school cross-country trip, followed almost immediately by the souvenir that nobody asked for. That’s right, ICYMI, my son and then my husband both tested positive for COVID last week, and I probably had it too (but tested negative 6 times over the course of 9 days…does this explain why?). D.C. recap here; COVID update here.
Anywho.
Did you see that Etsy sellers went on strike this week? That news prompted this thread, with links to all the blog posts I’ve written about my experiences on Etsy, my more or less full-time gig between babies (2008-13 or so). In a related vein, how about that lame response to Uncreative Parenting’s letter to Care and Feeding, the parenting advice column on Slate? It made the rounds, and I hope Uncreative Parenting saw all the responses, not only for the support but for some actual advice and words of wisdom as well. I like to keep the words of Ursula K. Le Guin in mind when I’m feeling particularly frustrated about how little time I have after work and kids for creativity.
One day I’ll figure out how to juggle it all and record season two of the Artists in Offices podcast, the focus of which will be working parent artists. One day!
I leave you all with this. May you navigate the week ahead as gracefully as this adorable fluffball.
